Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in the US aside from skin cancer. In Illinois specifically, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer for women, accounting for almost 30 percent of invasive cancer diagnoses, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
In 2016, the American Cancer Society estimates over 246,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed.
