It may be that is why exposure to the sun lessens SAD. Studies have shown that the majority of those living in the midwest have significant loss of Vitamin D when they are given blood tests. You should make sure your PCP includes a vitamin D screen when running routine blood tests. Some physicians are now recommending a supplement of 2,000 IU daily Vitamin D.
