Featured Video: An update on Baby Dominique

Just over a year ago, we introduced you to 10-month-old baby Dominique, who came to the U.S. all the way from the Ivory Coast in Africa to undergo a risky and complex surgery at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill.

She was born with an undeveloped parasitic conjoined twin that resulted in her being born with two spines and having two additional legs protruding from her neck and back. She underwent a successful six-hour procedure that involved five Advocate Children’s Hospital surgeons, and she returned home to Africa after she fully recovered.

Now, one year later, Dominique is healthy, happy and enjoying life without the huge malformation that once threatened it. Dominique and her parents FaceTime regularly with Nancy Swabb, Dominique’s host mom while she was in Chicago.
