“All women have dense glandular tissue and fat in their breasts. Some women have more fat, and some women have more glandular tissue. The more glandular tissue you have, the denser your breasts are,” says Dr. Vanessa Wear, medical director for breast imaging at Advocate Health Care. “When you have dense breasts, it is harder to find small masses.”
