Out of all the medications I have taken. Synthroid is the only medication that I can’t take the generic. There is something in the generic, Levothyroxine, that reacts, and medication does not work.
I had two providers tell me, that the generics can be off just enough to cause this. To always read and compare the generic to the name brand especially if the generic is not working as expected.

  2. I was told the same thing about my son’s epilepsy medication. Switching to generic may cause issue w/ seizures. Even very small changes in fillers, etc. may be responsible.

  3. I agree with the comment from Felicia M. Generics for Synthroid do not work the same and caused side effects for me. I only use the name brand Synthroid. I have heard this from many people. Generics for other medications seem to be fine.
