Health care heroes: Preventing infection

Infection Preventionists are backstage heroes working around the clock across Advocate Aurora Health to provide support and expert consultation for front line team members and clinicians to ensure that they are protected while providing the safest care during these unprecedented times.

It has been very challenging to be abreast of the evolving and challenging COVID-19 recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control, but infection prevention leaders are dedicated to ensuring that the most up-to-date information is available to team members.

Our infection preventionists in hospital, ambulatory and home care settings are devoted to providing support to the front lines by rounding, teaching, fielding questions and partnering with other teams to ensure that we have the best plan to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

The Infection Prevention Surveillance Analysts have taken up the enormous responsibility to report state public health officials.

“I am very proud of every member of our team,” says Linda Stein, vice president of infection prevention at Advocate Aurora Health. “Thank you to each of you for the support you are providing your site and each other. You are all my infection prevention heroes!”

The Advocate Aurora Health Infection Prevention team has been a significant contributor to our organization’s response to managing this pandemic while following all CDC recommendations. We are in this together.
